Since 1993, the a.s.d. Gens d’Ys has been synonymous with Irish dance in Italy.
Founded by a group of friends, Gens d’Ys soon became the first Italian academy dedicated to the traditional dances of the Emerald Isle and is now a branched reality throughout Italy, with 28 active branches in 21 cities, from Milan to Palermo.
They have executed hundreds of performances in squares, theatres and festivals and collaborate with numerous public and private institutes, associations and commercial companies.
For many years, the Academy has enjoyed the patronage of the Irish Embassy in Italy, various ministries over the years and, since 2011, that of the Irish National Tourist Board, of which it is an Official Testimonial.
The link between tradition and innovation in the teaching and performances offered is solely made possible by the true passion for Irish dance of the teachers and dancers, which is fundamental to the existence of the Association itself.
